CARIBBEAN MERCY & HONDURAS OUTREACH

2004-2005

The Caribbean Mercy docked in Puerto Castilla, Honduras

Trujillo, the nearest town to port (L) - Local Landscape (R)

Screening day staff assess patient needs and schedule surgeries

Eye surgeries took place in the onboard medical ward. Patients returned to their home the same day, and received a post-op exam several days later to examine the results of the operation. Many times, as the bandages were removed, those that had been blind could now see!

The dental clinic operated from a building near the ship. Many patients had never seen a dentist before, giving the dental staff plenty of work!
