Shannon Williamson

Shannon Williamson lives in “the great Northwest!” in Sequim, Washington, where her family has lived most of their lives. Those who remember Shannon as a little girl, remember that when they asked her the famous question “what do you want to be when you grow up?”, Shannon would respond confidently, “I wanna be a missionary!”. And it has been a road as always with twists and turns, bumps and side streets. But today Shannon finds herself amazed and incredibly grateful for the opportunities she has already had, including short term mission trips to Mexico, Africa, France, and the United States. One of Shannon’s favorite lines is “it’s all in God’s hands,” knowing that we cannot bank on tomorrow turning out the way we expect it to, but we can know that God loves us and that He is trustworthy.

“My line lately has been this: there’s too many Christians today living ordinary lives. Hands down."

We have come to know the living God of the universe. We have been made the children of God (I John 3:1). We have been filled with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of God (Gal. 2:20, John 14:16-17 ). Christians are called to be followers and disciples of the new testament Jesus Christ (Luke 9:23, Matt.28:19). And we are to be ambassadors for the King of Kings, Christ, to the world today (2 Cor 5:20). That is NO insignificant thing! It is NOT hypothetical! It is reality! It is the truth. With those truths in mind, we have no reason to not give God our sold out hearts in worship and our lives! We have one lifetime on this earth to live for Jesus! Why spend it living for myself or the way the world does, when Jesus has made it possible and gives us every thing we need to live a radical, effective life of active faith with Him, furthering God’s kingdom across the globe or around our own town! And He promises to lead us by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13) and to provide for all our needs (Phil. 4:19)!

Check out these words of Jesus: “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water" (John 7:38). “Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to the Father” (John 14:12). “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).

So why are there so many ‘Christians’ who supposedly know this reality and truth, but don't have noticeably different and changed lives? I think the number one reason is unbelief. The number one cause for God to hold back from being who He is with a present working power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians today is their own unbelief. Call it complacency, call it lukewarmness, call it choosing to be ignorant or simply selfish. Call it whatever you will, they are all rooted in unbelief of who He is, who Jesus is, and who He has made us to be.

Recently in ministry with Trampled Rose Ministries, we were in a place where we were surrounded by utter darkness and witnessed the deception that tens of thousands of real people are living in. The thing that impacted me the most about the experience was how for the first time I realized how privileged we true Christians are. It is a complete privilege and honor to KNOW that our God is the one and only true living God! Hundreds of thousands of people across the nation today, and around the world, are living their lives believing and worshiping created things, lost in deception and darkness, while we know the Creator. And not only know that, but we get to know Him personally. We get to hear His voice, if we seek Him and choose to listen, and believe. That should be life changing.

I tell you the truth, my God is not dead, asleep, or in a coma! God is alive today! Jesus Christ rose from the dead! God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end! And He said “I will be with you always, even unto the very end of the age” (Mt. 28:20).

The most exciting thing in my life, and in the life of my fellow ministry teammates, is that God is moving in the world today! And He works through His people who believe in Him and choose to give their sold our heart to Him. The harvest is great! But the workers are few (Mt. 9:37-38). He promises to lead us by his Spirit and to provide for our needs.

We want to encourage you, where ever you are in your walk with the Lord, and where ever you are in your life, job, family, responsibilities; you can know Him, be with Him in a real, living and active relationship, and you can be a part of His kingdom work where ever you are! Just seek Him and ask Him to lead you by His Spirit! Luke 11:10 says, “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you.” And Luke 11:13, "if your earthly fathers know how to give good gifts, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

Never assured of what tomorrow may hold, we seek to live all the way in today for Him. Praise the Living God for every day!
